NEFAR Offers Military Relocation and VA Loan Process Courses for Realtors

In Northeast Florida, particularly in Jacksonville, which is home to a major military presence, it’s crucial for real estate professionals to understand the unique needs of military families. The constant movement of service members and their families presents both challenges and opportunities in the housing market. Real estate professionals who are equipped with the right knowledge and skills can make a significant difference in the lives of military personnel during these transitions. NEFAR is proud to offer two specialized courses that empower real estate agents to provide top-tier services to current and former service members: the Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification and Navigating the VA Loan Process.

Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification

Course Date: Thursday, November 7, 2024
Time: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: NEFAR Resource Center
Instructor: Patricia Sherman
Price: $100 (NEFAR Members) | $125 (Non-Members)

For real estate professionals looking to expand their expertise in assisting military families, the Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification is a must-attend course. Military relocations come with unique circumstances—strict timelines, benefit packages, and emotional pressures. As service members move frequently, often under tight schedules, real estate agents who understand these challenges can provide invaluable guidance, making the process of buying or selling a home far less stressful.

Led by experienced instructor Patricia Sherman, this course dives deep into the details of military relocations. Participants will learn how to navigate the processes and procedures involved in helping military members and their families transition smoothly. Key topics covered include how to guide clients through the rent vs. buy decision, assisting in the sale or purchase of a home, and understanding VA financing options. This class also opens the door to exclusive marketing tools designed to help agents connect with military clients.

Upon completion of the course, attendees are one step closer to earning their MRP certification, a credential that enhances their professional standing and opens up a specialized niche in the real estate market. To earn the certification, members must complete the one-day course, submit a one-time application fee of $195, and maintain active membership with the National Association of REALTORS®.

Navigating the VA Loan Process

Course Date: Thursday, November 14, 2024
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: NEFAR Resource Center
Instructor: Grant Simon
Price: Free (NEFAR Members) | $40 (Non-Members)

Another key area of expertise for real estate professionals working with veterans and active military members is the VA loan process. Navigating the VA Loan Process, taught by Grant Simon, is a comprehensive, half-day course designed to simplify the often-complex VA home loan procedure for Realtors®. Veterans are eligible for special financing options that make homeownership more accessible, but navigating these benefits can be daunting without the right knowledge.

This class offers practical insights into key components of the VA loan process, such as understanding the difference between pre-qualification and pre-approval, debt ratios, loan amounts, and VA-specific contract clauses. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of the documentation needed, including DD 214 and the Certificate of Eligibility, and how to work with veterans on credit counseling and closing disclosures. These skills are essential for agents who want to provide their clients with a seamless experience from start to finish.

By taking both of these classes, Realtors® position themselves as valuable resources to military families in Northeast Florida. As Jacksonville continues to grow as a military hub, the ability to assist service members and veterans with their unique housing needs is not just a professional advantage—it’s a way to give back to those who have served our country. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to elevate your real estate career while making a meaningful impact on the lives of military families.
