Candidate Screening

NEFAR’s candidate screening process is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and professional programs in the region.

This is one of the most important benefits you receive as a NEFAR member, and member of the Realtor family. Through candidate interviews, local Realtor associations help to ensure that candidates who support the Realtor position on issues get elected at all levels of government.

Candidate Screening Task Force

The Candidate Screening Task Force interviews candidates for public office, then make recommendations to NEFAR’s Board of Directors for support and Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC) funding for candidates who best represent the Realtors’ positions. NEFAR believes in the democratic process and actively supports political candidates, regardless of party affiliation, who strongly identify with issues important to the real estate industry, the free enterprise system, real estate buyers and sellers, and the preservation of private property rights.

Only NEFAR Realtor members in good standing, who have contributed at least $99 to RPAC within the last 12 months, and are registered to vote in the United States, can serve on NEFAR’s Candidate Screening Task Force. Members of the Candidate Screening Task Force must complete a Task Force membership application annually and attend candidate screening training prior to initial participation, and once every two years thereafter. Task Force members are required to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to each screening session and a disclosure statement declaring any association with any of the candidates scheduled to be interviewed.
