The Northeast Florida Association of REALTORS® (NEFAR) kicked off the first portion of its annual Clean-up Florida Waterways event by collecting 1,000 pounds of trash from the waterways in Putnam County July 13.

More than 63 real estate professionals and their friends – many of whom belong to area fishing clubs – participated in the event which was based at Crystal Cove Marina in Palatka. This year the collection areas were extended to include Lake Santa Fe, Lake Geneva, and Lake Brooklyn boat ramps as well as Rodman Dam, and Keystone Heights.

Helping out were NEFAR CEO Glenn East, NEFAR 2024 President Rory Dubin, his wife, Janna Thomas, and NEFAR 2024 President-elect Mario Gonzalez.

“With the off-site weight added, the REALTORS® and their friends gathered more than 1,000 pounds of trash!! We are proud that we had to look hard to find what we did!” said NEFAR organizer Becky Williams, a REALTOR® with IHeart Realty.

The Putnam County event was the first of three events comprising this years’ NEFAR Waterways Clean-up.
