Start the Year Making an Impact: Join the Ghost Trap Rodeo Cleanup

CCA Cleanup Event

Looking for a way to give back to our waterways without battling the summer heat? Here’s your chance.

NEFAR members are invited to take part in a winter cleanup opportunity that will count toward our Association’s totals for Florida REALTORS®’ Cleanup Florida Waters initiative. The Ghost Trap Rodeo Tournament Series, happening Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m., offers a fun, hands-on way to remove debris from local waterways while supporting conservation efforts.

This unique cleanup event focuses on collecting trash and retrieving abandoned or “ghost” crab traps from the river, helping protect marine life and preserve Florida’s natural beauty. Organized by our partners at the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) in collaboration with Oceanaid360, the event is structured as a friendly tournament with prizes awarded for the most trash and ghost traps collected.

For members who have wanted to participate in past years but were discouraged by the intense July heat, this is the perfect alternative. Cooler temperatures, a meaningful environmental impact, and the opportunity to get an early start on NEFAR’s 2026 cleanup numbers make this an ideal way to kick off the year. All trash poundage collected by participating REALTORS will be credited toward NEFAR’s annual cleanup totals. We encourage members to represent our Association and show our continued commitment to protecting Florida’s waterways.
