In Memoriam – Margie Webb Walker

May 7, 1931 to August 14, 2021

NEFAR was saddened to hear that Margie Walker, a well-loved REALTOR® who formerly worked in Watson Realty Corp.’s Chaffee Road office, has passed away. Walker considered herself a “country girl from Northeast Tennessee.” After graduating from East Tennessee State College with a degree in education, Ms. Walker began a 40-year teaching career by instructing her students in a two-room elementary school. Throughout the years she taught in Melbourne, Fla., Asheville, N.C., and other locations. A devout Baptist, she also earned a divinity degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, with the hope of becoming a missionary in China. When that did not work out for health reasons, she returned to East Tennessee State University earning a master’s degree in counseling. Ms. Walker spent the balance of her teaching career in Jacksonville retiring finally from Ed White High School where she was a popular guidance counselor. Upon her retirement she entered the real estate profession and began her career as an agent at Watson’s Chaffee Road Office on March 31, 1998, just eight days after receiving her license. She served with Watson for 20 years earning several top sales awards. According to her brother, Dr. Clinton Steve Webb, Ms. Walker was cremated, and her ashes will be spread in East Tennessee. Due to COVID, a family memorial service will be held at in the Elizabethton, Tennessee, at a later date.
