NEFAR’s St. Johns Area Council welcomed members to the 2026 State of St. Johns event on July 15 at The Waterworks in St. Augustine, bringing together local leaders to discuss the issues shaping one of Northeast Florida’s fastest-growing counties.
The program featured presentations from St. Johns County Superintendent of Schools Brennan Asplen, Deputy County Administrator Jesse Dunn and Sheriff’s Office Director Howard “Skip” Cole, who shared timely updates on education, county growth and infrastructure, and public safety.
Asplen highlighted the continued success of St. Johns County schools, providing attendees with valuable information they can use to better assist clients considering a move to the area. His presentation also covered school growth and development as the county continues to expand.
Dunn provided an overview of major county initiatives, including updates on parks, beach access ramps, libraries, roadway improvement projects and new development throughout St. Johns County. He also discussed tax reform and Constitutional Amendment CS/HJR 1-F, giving members greater insight into issues that could impact residents and property owners.
Cole focused on public safety, sharing information about school security, drug and threat prevention efforts, roadway safety, and REALTOR safety while showing homes. His presentation offered practical guidance that members can apply in their day-to-day business.
Following each presentation, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, creating an engaging discussion that continued throughout the program. The strong participation reflected members’ interest in learning more about the county’s growth, infrastructure and community priorities.
The event also included a catered brunch, giving attendees the opportunity to network with fellow REALTORS while connecting with local leaders.
