Healthy Marketplace
Private Remarks are not Always Private. The most violated data integrity rule is placing Security Codes or Gate Codes in the Private Remarks. Although the name of the field is “Private Remarks,” it is not a secure place to share sensitive information, such as Security Codes to gated communities. Sharing Gate Codes in the MLS is not permitted and results in an immediate $200 fine. This fine reflects the privacy risks caused by placing these codes in the MLS, where the “Private Remarks” field can be printed and inadvertently shared with others. The only place a gate code can be securely shared is within ShowingTime.
