It is with great sadness that NEFAR has learned of the death of longtime NEFAR member Jeannette Ossi Cratem.
Jeannette, 93, passed away on November 4, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL, at her home surrounded by her family in prayer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Philip T. Cratem, her parents, A.R. & Raina Ossi, her granddaughter Gabriella Cratem, and her sisters Mary (JK David), Frances (Naim Zebouni), and Vicky (Joe Namen). She was an inspiration and source of strength and love for her family. Jeannette’s life was defined by her faith in God and family.
Jeannette was born in Jacksonville on July 5, 1931. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and Landon High School. She married the love of her life Philip Cratem on September 7, 1959, and they had many wonderful years together until his death in January 1994.
She worked with her husband in the insurance business and as a REALTOR served many in the Jacksonville community. She was an active parishioner at Assumption Catholic Church. She was a member of the Salaam Club of Jacksonville and San Jose Country Club.
She is survived by her 5 sons, Philip II, Tom (Diana), David (Debra), Richard (Pam), and Michael (Jen) as well as 11 beloved grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth, Matthew, Anna, Isabella, David Paul II, John, Sophie, Joseph, Thomas, and Julianna. She leaves a brother, Dr. Ben Ossi (Jacqueline), a sister, Margaret Helow (George, deceased), and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
There will be a rosary on Monday November 11, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a visitation at 10 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, 2431 Atlantic Blvd. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jeannette’s honor can be made to Assumption Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd.
