REALTORS® celebrate Fair Housing!

Fair Housing Month

Every April, REALTORS® in Northeast Florida and throughout the country commemorate the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 and reflect on housing discrimination and segregation, past and present. As community leaders, real estate professionals have an opportunity to be a part of the equitable and inclusive change. Fair Housing Month signifies a recommitment to advancing equitable opportunities and expanding homeownership.

To celebrate this momentous month-long occasion, NEFAR members can draw from several resources courtesy of the National Association of REALTORS. The first is the 2024 Fair Housing Month toolkit, which features a downloadable poster, social media graphics, and other strategic resources.

Also available is a brand new episode of the Drive With NAR podcast: : Fair Housing: Who’s Being Left Out of the Conversation?

In addition, NAR is making available a new Window to the Law video entitled: Advertising Within the Fair Housing Framework

Members may want to commemorate Fair Housing month by asking local government officials to pass a special proclamation supporting fair housing for all. To download the Fair Housing Month Proclamation click here

On April 12, NAR will release its “Obstacles to Homebuying” report. And later, on April 27, NAR will host a Facebook Live event entitled, “How Do We Close the Racial Homeownership Gap?”

In addition, NEFAR is offering two Fair Housing classes in April and sponsored some giveaways on April 6 during a symposium put on by the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission on Fair Housing.

NEFAR’s annual Fair Housing Luncheon, with special guest speaker Pam Cass, will take place on Friday, May 3.
